Met Police officers have been instructed "not to put on a Union badge" in tribute to fallen co-workers as it breaches uniform policy, the police federation said.
Numerous officers were given instructions not to wear the charity badge after the loss of Police constable Dave Phillips on Monday, the federation's ceo reported.
PC Phillips was killed after being hit by a truck in Wallasey, Merseyside.
A Met spokesperson explained the badge was not on the permitted list nevertheless supervisors could allow it at their discretion.
The Met Police Commissioner, Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe, proclaimed he personally did not have a worry with police officers wearing it, the Sunday Express published.
